Forum on Decarbonizing the Economy ~TCFD・SBT・RE100~ (November 28, 2018)

Pre-COP24 (UN Climate Change Conference) Meeting between MOE Japan and Leading Environmental Organizations (November 26, 2018)

MOE organized the meeting with local leading environmental organizations ahead of the COP24 in Katowice, Poland in December. They discussed the roles of non-state actors in climate change governance, the collaboration between state and non-state actors, and the need for non-state actors to follow good practices such as clear target setting and better reporting and monitoring.

Chrysanthemum Exhibition at the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in Tokyo (November 15, 2018)

The chrysanthemum exhibition at the Japanese garden is held every November. This event originated in 1878 in Akasaka Temporary Palace and was moved to Shinjuku Gyoen in 1929. It features around 1000 exhibitions showcasing different kinds of chrysanthemums.

7th Asia Smart City Conference (ASCC) in Yokohama (November 15, 2018)

High Level Segment of the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP14) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt (November 14-15, 2018)

State Minister Kiuchi attended the HLS of the UN Biodiversity Conference, preceding the COP14 to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The HLS included a panel discussion on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and 2050 vision, and adopted the Sharm El-Sheikh Declaration Investing in Biodiversity for People and Planet.

Inspection Visit to the Ise-Shima National Park in Mie Prefecture (November 10, 2018)

State Minister Akimoto visited some upgraded facilities at the park and learned their unique initiative for different experiential activities, such as "Ama" diving experience, sea kayaking, boat fishing, and many more. "Ama" are free-diving fisherwomen who make their living diving to retrieve seafood such as abalone and sea snails, out of the shallows without using oxygen tanks.

Inspection Visit at the Tokyo PCB (Polychlorinated Biphenyl) Waste Treatment Facility (November 8, 2018)
