MOE organized the meeting with local leading environmental organizations ahead of the COP24 in Katowice, Poland in December. They discussed the roles of non-state actors in climate change governance, the collaboration between state and non-state actors, and the need for non-state actors to follow good practices such as clear target setting and better reporting and monitoring.

The chrysanthemum exhibition at the Japanese garden is held every November. This event originated in 1878 in Akasaka Temporary Palace and was moved to Shinjuku Gyoen in 1929. It features around 1000 exhibitions showcasing different kinds of chrysanthemums.

State Minister Akimoto visited some upgraded facilities at the park and learned their unique initiative for different experiential activities, such as "Ama" diving experience, sea kayaking, boat fishing, and many more. "Ama" are free-diving fisherwomen who make their living diving to retrieve seafood such as abalone and sea snails, out of the shallows without using oxygen tanks.
