World Food Summit (WFS) 2018 - "Better Food For More People" in Copenhagen, Denmark (August 28-31, 2018)

WFS is to discuss food challenges of global relevance and furthering the Better Food for More People movement. The summit serves as a platform for interaction, insight, and impact bringing together international, political decision-makers, industry leaders and experts, as well as gastronomy frontrunners to develop partnerships and solutions to be turned into locally anchored actions across the globe.

G20 Resource Efficiency Dialogue Workshop and the Second Meeting of the Climate Sustainability Working Group (CSWG) in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina (August 27-28, 2018)

State Minister Tokashiki paid an official visit to Argentina, to participate in several ministerial and work group meetings. She also held bilateral meetings with her counterparts such as Rabbi Sergio Bergman, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Argentina, and Mr. Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary at Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Germany.

Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum on Cooperation (MoC) in the Field of Environment and Joint Workshop on Waste Management between Japan and Myanmar (August 20, 2018 )

State Minister Ito paid an official visit to Myanmar to attend the signing ceremony of the MoC. MoC in the Field of Environment and Joint Workshop on Waste Management was signed between Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation (MONREC) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Ministry of the Environment, Japan.

State Minister Tokashiki's Official Visit to the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of the Philippines (August 20-23, 2018)

State Minister Tokashiki engaged in productive exchange of opinions with ASEAN leaders, in order to strengthen cooperation ahead of the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Environment in Karuizawa and the ASEAM meetings. She also inspected the Bangkok's canal system and the trash-filled waterways.

Inspection Visit to the Chubu Sangaku National Park in Toyama Prefecture (August 9-10, 2018)

Parliamentary Vice-Minister Sasagawa visited Toyama Prefecture to inspect several areas such as the Chubu Sangaku National Park, the Agricultural Research Institute, which contributed the developement of the new Japanese rice brand "Fufufu", and the conservation area of Japanese snow grouse (Raicho) at the Toyama Municipal Family Park Zoo.

Inspection Visit at the JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) Tsukuba Space Center (August 7, 2018)

State Minister Tokashiki observed the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 40 (H-IIA F40) that would carry aboard JAXA's Second Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite "IBUKI-2" (GOSAT-2) and KhalifaSat, a remote sensing Earth observation satellite, developed by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in the United Arab Emirates. The launch date is October 29, 2018.

Opening Ceremony for ACCP SWM (Solid Waste Management) Training in Japan (August 6, 2018)

The African Clean Cities Platform (ACCP) implements several training courses on waste management for member countries and cities. For practitioners, a training program to learn appropriate methods and techniques for improving waste management, and for policy makers, a study tour to deepen understanding of the importance of waste management and to raise policy priorities have been prepared.
