Inspections and Enforcement of Waste Management Operations After the 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake (September 25, 2018)

Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takebe visited disaster-hit areas by the Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake occurred on September 6, that triggered soil liquefaction widely. He also met several officials of the local government and discussed effective implementation of disaster waste management (DWM) and a wide range of issues related to current recovery efforts.

Climate Week NYC in New York City, U.S.A. (September 24-25, 2018)

State Minister Tokashiki participated in several summits and high-level meetings, such as the Sustainable Development Impact Summit convened by the World Economic Forum. Multi-Chamber Septic Tank Inspections and Visit to Tofutsu-ko Waterfowl and Wetland Center, Abashiri, Hokkaido (September 21, 2018)

Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takebe inspected the local septic system of multiple compartment tanks, which provide greater protection against solids from the wastewater. He also visited the Tofutsu-ko Waterfowl and Wetland Centre, where he was informed about the biodiversity of the area and the importance of sustaining it.

G7 Environment, Oceans and Energy Ministers Meeting in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (September 18-20, 2018)

Under Canada's G7 Presidency, the G7 Ministers of Environment and Energy convened in Halifax from September 18-21, 2018, under the theme of Climate Change, Oceans and Clean Energy. Minister Nakagawa also held individual talks with his counterparts in other participating countries and confirmed their intent to bolster collaboration ahead of the G20 to be held in Japan next June.

International Water Association (IWA) World Water Congress & Exhibition 2018, in Tokyo (September 16, 2018)

The 11th edition of the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition drew 9815 participants from 98 countries, and provided a strategic platform for the key stakeholders within and outside the water sector to discuss and co-create solutions to our global water challenges. As an integrated and key element of the event, the exhibition also brought together 252 global exhibitors.

Inspection Visit to the Aso-Kuju National Park in Kyushu (September 9-10, 2018)

As part of the effort to promote the "Project to Fully Enjoy National Parks", State Minister Tokashiki visited the Aso-Kuju National Park. Located in central Kyushu, it spans Kumamoto and Oita Prefecture, with Mount Aso and Mount Kuju at the center, and covers an area of over 70,000 hectares.

Filipino Community in Japan Celebrates Philippine Festival 2018, in Tokyo (September 9, 2018)

State Minister Ito attended the Philippine Festival 2018 and thanked the Filipino community in Japan to collect and donate small electronic devices such as used mobile phones for the Tokyo 2020 Medal Project. The next Olympic and Paralympic Games to have all medals made of e-waste.

Japan-Vietnam Workshop on Ocean Policy in Hanoi, Vietnam (September 3ー6, 2018)

Parliamentary Vice-Minister Takebe participated in and delivered a keynote speech at the Japan-Vietnam Workshop on Ocean Policy.
