4-4Yodogawa Trail Entrance - Mt. Miyanoura - Shirataniunsui-kyo Ravine (overnight)
This route can be started and finished at either the Yodogawa Trail Entrance or the Shirataniunsui-kyo Ravine. An overnight stay in the mountains is assumed. This route entails a large overall change in elevation, and therefore requires sufficient physical strength, experience of overnight stays, and camping equipment. It boasts some of the most notable highlights of the mountains of Yakushima Island, including Mt. Miyanoura and the Jomon-sugi Cedar. In the Shirataniunsui-kyo Ravine, fording streams becomes difficult at some crossing points when the water level rises, so the route requires decision-making skills in bad weather.
