What Is the Center?

Access Map: The Yakushima World Heritage Conservation Center is located in the east-southeast area of Yakushima, on the west side of the mountain when viewed from the nearest port (Anbo Port).If you are coming from Miyanoura Port or Yakushima Airport in the northeast part of the island, head south on Prefectural Road 77, cross the Anbo River that flows into Anbo Port, go directly west (to the right), turn right at the intersection with Harumaki Post Office on your right (onto Prefectural Road 592) and continue along the road.Near the Center, there is also the Yakusugi Museum a little further ahead, and the Yakushima Environmental Cultural Learning Center further on as you pass by.Refer to the transport guide in the text for details.

  • Approx. 30 min. by car from Miyanoura Port
  • Approx. 15 min. by car from Yakushima Airport
  • Go south from Miyanoura and Koseda on Prefectural Road 77, cross the Anbo River, and go up the hill and continue for about 750m.
    With the Harumaki Post Office in front of you on the right, turn right at the intersection with the 'Yakusugi Museum, World Heritage Conservation Center, Yakusugi Land' sign, and continue along the Anbo Park Route (Prefectural Road 592).
    Follow the road for about 3 minutes (2.7 km) and you will see the entrance sign for the Yakusugi Museum.
    About 200m further on, on your left, you will find the Yakushima World Heritage Conservation Center.

    please take a regular bus service headed for "Yakusugi Museum"
    and get off at the Yakusugi Museum.
    YWHCC is a 2 minutes’ walk from the bus stop.
