Inaugural Meeting of the Regional 3R(Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Forum in Asia

Nov 11 and 12, 2009

  The Inaugural Meeting of the Regional 3R Forum in Asia was held on November 11-12, 2009 at Meguro Gajoen in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting had the participation of 18 Asian countries, through their representatives from the Environment and other relevant ministries, and also experts and various bilateral/multilateral donors, including UN agencies.

  During the meeting, participants agreed on a statement on the establishment of the Forum, for the promotion of the 3Rs in the Asia region. Participants agreed to facilitate high-level policy dialogues on 3R issues, share experiences on various aspects of the 3Rs, and provide a platform to develop multilayered networks of stakeholders under the Forum.

  Malaysia proposed to be the host country for the next meeting, which was welcomed by the participants.
