Theme | 3Rs in the Context of Rio+20 Outcome – The Future We Want |
Details/Outcome | Opening speeches by Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister and Japan’s Senior Vice Minister of the Environment were followed by seven plenary sessions and six parallel round table dialogue sessions. Topics of discussion included the promotion of the 3Rs, green growth, performance indicators in the 3Rs (resource efficiency, etc.), international cooperation for 3R promotion, the 3Rs in small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs), agriculture/rural sectors and island countries, and the 3Rs for cities. The Forum adopted the Ha Noi 3R Declaration as the world’s first regional response to the outcome of Rio+20. |
The Declaration is a legally non-binding and voluntary document containing policy targets to be achieved for the decade of 2013-2023 so as to promote 3R in the Asian and Pacific region. Specifically, 33 goals and their monitoring indicators are indicated.
Each country is asked to develop measures/programs to promote 3R in accordance with their own progress. MOEJ intends to provide policy support and promote technology cooperation, taking into consideration of the adopted Declaration.
