Environmental Cooperation through International Organizations and Japanese ODA

Environmental Cooperation through International Organizations

The Ministry of the Environment contributes actively to environmental policy dialogues with international organizations and frameworks in the Asia-Pacific region such as ESCAP, UNEP,  Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD).
Also, the Ministry supports specific cooperation efforts by such international organizations and frameworks. For instance, the Ministry supports the establishment and management of UNEP's International Environment Technology Center (IETC) which has been set up in Japan for the transfer of Environmentally Sound Technologies (ESTs) to developing countries.

Cooperation for Environmental ODA

Besides ODA based on its own technical cooperation, the Ministry of the Environment supports environmental ODA projects and programs through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
