A symposium on marine litter was held in January 2016.

"2016 New Year Symposium on Marine Litter" was held at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology on January 23 & 24, 2016.

The symposium was held for 2 days as an international (January 23) and domestic (January 24) symposium. The lecturers and audience exchanged their opinions actively on both days. The Ministry of the Environment of the Government of Japan shall make further policy efforts to combat marine litter.
