Outcome of the 24th Session of the Intergovernmental Meeting on the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET)
The 24th session of the Intergovernmental Meeting (IG24) on the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET IG24) was held in Manila, Philippines, on November 24 and 25, 2022.
At this meeting, eight projects, including two projects led and developed by Japan, were adopted as EANET projects. In addition, the procedures and timeline for revising the Guidelines on the Administrative and Financial Management for the Secretariat and the Network Center, as well as the EANET Project Fund and Project Guideline, were defined for the full-scale operation of the EANET Project.

Reference:
EANET is an intergovernmental network aiming at promoting cooperation among the countries coping with acid deposition issues in East Asia. Launched under Japan’s initiative, it started full-scale activities in January 2001. Currently, 13 countries participate in EANET.EANET has expanded the scope of its activities since the IG23 (2021) g to cover the atmospheric environment more broadly from its previous activities focusing on acid deposition. MOE Japan’s Future Involvement in EANET
MOE Japan will continue to actively contribute to the utilization of a new framework which implements each budget and the development of further activities after 2023. Japan aims to fulfill and strengthen the activities aiming EANET to be able to play a role as an important organization for atmospheric environment administration in the East Asia region.
