Park Etiquette

Please keep in mind the importance of nature and observe the following while staying in the national park so that everyone can enjoy.

  • Do not litter.
  • Do not pick flowers or plants.
  • Do not feed wildlife.
  • No smoking is permitted while walking.

The untouched nature of the Hidaka Mountains offers numerous advanced-level hiking trails requiring skills in bushwhacking, river crossings, map reading, and physical endurance. Due to the risk of accidents, it is crucial to plan hikes ahead based on your climbing abilities.
Moreover, considering the presence of numerous brown bears, it is essential to possess adequate knowledge about them.

Submit a written mountaineering plan.
Bring a portable toilet.
Bring bear bells, bear spray, etc.
Do not leave food or other items behind, since they could attract brown bears.
