IPCC Symposium on "Adaptation to Climate Change" (February 19, 2019)

Minister Harada attended the IPCC Symposium on "Adaptation to Climate Change" and gave an opening address. He expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) to address climate change, and his intent to contribute to the success of the 49th Session of the IPCC (IPCC 49) to be held in Kyoto this coming May.

MOE and The Nippon Foundation launch collaborative to eliminate marine plastic pollution (February 18, 2019)

Minister Harada and Chairman Sasakawa of The Nippon Foundation announced the launch of a joint project to address the problem of "ocean debris" consisting primarily of drifting plastic waste. The project will include large-scale beach cleanup activities nationwide during UMIGOMI Zero WEEK, and UMIGOMI Zero International Symposium. (Umigomi: "umi" means ocean/sea, "gomi" means waste/trash in Japanese)
