Natural Refrigerant Equipment in Japan

Voices of forerunners
adopting Natural Refrigerant Equipment

4. Going further

Having taken the decision to install a natural refrigerant-system, overcome any potential problems and been able to assess the benefits, companies may make the decision to use this experience to influence future projects. Hear how using natural refrigerant technology inspired these companies to go further:

“Fluorocarbons Recovery and Destruction Law was revised and enforced last year, which will obviously increase the management cost and works associated with facilities using F gas. Additional recording, reporting, and regular inspections will be necessary to use conventional F gas facilities. Other works will be required for additional charging. For example, if the government would decide to restrict business operation in case of F gas leakage unless it is mended within a certain period of time, it would pose a significant risk to stay in business. Actually, this is exactly what the government ministry is discussing now. But if you change your perspective, these works involved in the use of F gas facilities would be a good reason to appreciate the importance of installing energy-efficient natural refrigerant units, in order for your business operation to be sustainable.”

“With the subsidy available at the moment, we have a plan for the replacement every year, but we cannot deny the possibility that the subsidy may become unavailable. However, as we place the highest priority on fulfilling our "F-Gas Free Plan," our basic policy is to continue our investment by bank borrowings even when the subsidy can be no longer used. “

“We think the trend of the world that we all need to do what is gentle to the earth will remain unchanged. We would like to actively take environmentally friendly measures. Our current concern is that our headquarters' factory still uses F-gas (R404A). Of course we take measures to prevent F-gas leakage, but we think it is very rare that both F-gas equipment (Headquarters) and energy-efficient natural refrigerant equipment (Shimoshiojiri) are used at the same process of one company. Because we can compare energy-saving performance and environmental impact between the two, we would like to gather and organize data. While continuing to collect data, we would like to gradually refresh the existing equipment.”
