Supporting E-waste projects in Asia and the Pacific
The Government of Japan in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Basel Convention (SBC) launched the Basel Convention Partnership on the Environmentally Sound Management of E-waste for Asia-Pacific Region at the Asia-Pacific Regional Inception Workshop on the Environmentally Sound Management of E-waste in Tokyo in November 2004. This programme focuses on enhancement of the capacity of Parties to manage E-waste in an environmentally sound way. The followings are the strategic objectives:
- Assessment of the current situation on E-waste;
- Prevention and minimization of E-waste;
- Introduction of the environmentally sound management of E-waste;
- Promotion of information and training for all sectors.
