Seminar on Latest Trends on Chemical Management in Singapore
- The Ministry of the Environment will host an online “Seminar on Latest Trends on Chemical Management in Singapore” on October 21, 2026.
- At this seminar, officials from the National Environment Agency of the Republic of Singapore will provide presentations on an overview of the country’s Environmental Protection and Management Act, as well as recent developments in Meeting Singapore's Obligations under Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs).
Purpose of the Seminar
The Seminar on the Latest Trends on Chemical Management has been held as part of activities of the “Network for Strategic Response on International Chemical Management”. However, as the network concluded its operations at the end of March 2026, the seminar will continue to be held as an event organized by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan. The countries and regions covered by the seminar are selected based on the interests and requests from participants, and the seminar will be held online, focusing on the Republic of Singapore.

Overview of the Seminar
In the Republic of Singapore, chemical management is governed by the Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA) as the primary legislation. Additionally, in accordance with Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), the country is implementing measures to comply with the Minamata Convention, the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs Convention), which includes PFAS management, the Rotterdam Convention, and the Montreal Protocol. In this seminar, officials from the National Environment Agency of the Republic of Singapore will provide an overview of hazardous substances management and details of recent amendments, as well as explain the latest developments regarding the fulfillment of obligations under the MEAs.
