Outcomes of the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial Meeting

From September 14 to 16, 2026, the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial Meeting was held in Houston, Texas, United States of America. The meeting was chaired by the United States under its G20 Presidency, which consolidated the Outcome Documents.

From Japan, SEKIYA Takeshi, Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of the Environment, attended the meeting together with other members of the Japanese delegation.

Vice-Minister SEKIYA also participated as a panelist in a side event and held bilateral meetings with five countries on the margins of the meeting.

■ Overview of Discussions

At the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial Meeting, discussions were held on (1) Energy Security, (2) Permitting and Regulatory Efficiency, and (3) Critical Minerals and Resilient Supply Chains.

■ Others

・ Vice-Minister SEKIYA participated in the “G20 Permitting and Regulatory Efficiency Symposium,” which was held to discuss the streamlining of permits and regulations. 
・ On the margins of the meeting, he also exchanged views with representatives of the following countries:
     US

     South Korea
     Indonesia
