MOE Japan selects one project of Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Financing Support Programme: “Pilot project for comprehensive support throughout the whole hydrogen supply chain abroad” for FY2022 (Second Round)

The Ministry of the Environment, Japan, issued a call for proposals (2nd round) related to the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Financing Support Programme: “Pilot project for comprehensive support throughout the whole hydrogen supply chain abroad” and selected one project.

Programme Details

The programme subsidizes demonstration projects to produce hydrogen using renewable energy in a third country with abundant renewable energy potential, such as solar and wind power. This green hydrogen will then be transported and utilized in partner countries (such as Pacific Island countries).
Through this programme, Japan aims to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by utilizing advanced decarbonization technologies and will contribute to the establishment of an international green hydrogen supply chain network in the Indo-Pacific region.

Overview of Selected Projects:

The Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC), as the secretariat of this Programme, issued a call for proposals (2nd round) for FY2022 from November 7 to December 9, 2022. Following an initial screening by the secretariat and a review by the expert committee, one project was selected.
