Renewal of Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Ministry of Jal Shakti of the Republic of India in the Areas of Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management
The Memorandum of Cooperation in the areas of Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management, which was concluded between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Ministry of Jal Shakti of the Republic of India in 2022, was signed and renewed by ASAO Keiichiro, Minister of the Environment and H.E. Mr. Chandrakant Raghunath Patil, Minister of Jal Shakti of the Republic of India.

Background
In 2022, the Ministry of the Environment of Japan signed and concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Jal Shakti of the Republic of India in the areas of Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management. To continue contributing to the preservation of water environment and the improvement of public health in the Republic of India by utilizing Japan’s technologies and experiences in the areas of Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management, the Memorandum has been renewed and signed again.
Overview of the Memorandum
- Facilitate cooperation on Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management using Johkasou
- The expected activities include exchanging information and expertise on Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management, as well as capacity building through training programs, etc.
