MOE Japan Selects Projects for the FY2022 Project for Overseas Expansion of Japanese Waste Management and Recycling Industries (First Round)

1.The Ministry of the Environment (MOE), Japan, has been actively supporting the overseas expansion of Japanese waste management and recycling industries with excellent technologies, such as waste treatment systems and recycling facilities.

2.As part of this initiative, in order to conduct feasibility surveys and carry out other relevant activities, MOE Japan has been publicly calling for applications of the FY2022 Project for Overseas Expansion of Japanese Waste Management and Recycling Industries.

3.As a result, by May 18, 2022, MOE Japan has received six applications, and four projects have been selected based on the results of the evaluation by the screening panel of experts set up by the Japan Waste Research Foundation.

4.In this Project, applications will remain open until November 30, 2022.

Project outline

In the Project for Overseas Expansion of Japanese Waste Management and Recycling Industries, in order to support the overseas expansion of Japanese waste management and recycling industries while fully taking into account the needs in the waste management and recycling fields of other countries, MOE Japan will conduct feasibility surveys and carry out other relevant activities overseas in the next few years in connection with projects for providing waste management services or projects for constructing facilities as entrusted by waste treatment businesses, etc. In the FY2022 Project, MOE Japan started to publicly call for applications from April 18, 2022, and has received six applications by May 18, 2022.

The following four projects have been selected, based on the results of the evaluation by the screening panel set up by the Japan Waste Research Foundation, which is the contractor for the work to select and supervise projects under the FY2022 Project for Overseas Expansion of Japanese Waste Management and Recycling Industries.
