These waters include Toyama Bay and southern Sadoga Island. The Toyama Canyon, where the extended flows of the Sho-gawa River, Jinzu River, Kurobe River, and other rivers that flow into Toyama Bay meet, continues to become the Toyama Trough. The steep terrain of Toyama Bay, which makes up part of these waters, includes the Kurobe, Tomari, and Omi banks, which include numerous seamounts (Japan Oceanographic Data Center, 1985).
