There are coral fishing grounds in the south of the Gotoh Islands, including Tamanoura (Iwasaki, 2008). Known as the Hizen fishing grounds, these waters are home to distribution of precious coral in the deep waters around Hizentori Island in the Danjo Islands (Iwasaki, 2008).
These waters also include a number of submarine canyons.
