These are the waters in the vicinity of Oshima-Ohshima Island (50 km to sea west of the town of Matsumae, Hokkaido Prefecture). Oshima-Ohshima Island is Japan’s largest uninhabited island. It has been designated a natural monument as the northernmost of the important breeding grounds of the streaked shearwater.
