These are the waters in the vicinity of Hamanaka and the mouth of the Akagawa River. This area, which is in a relatively natural state, is an important fishing ground for abalone, turban shell, oyster, wakame, and others, and it is relatively productive where the shelf is narrow (Sakurai, personal communication).
