Characteristics A separate window opensReferences

These are the waters in the vicinity of Yumigahama beach on Miho Bay in Shimane Prefecture. While large sandy shores are few in the San'in region, in these waters their natural state is well preserved. In particular, it has been reported that Stimpson's ghost crab, a species that lives on sandy shores in a highly natural state, is widely distributed on the sandy shores here (Wada, 2009). The sandy shores where Stimpson's ghost crab are located are in a highly natural state. Also living here are species important from a preservation perspective, such as Lycosa ishikariana and others, that live only on large-scale beach sand dunes.
