These are the waters in the vicinity of Cape Hino-misaki and Uppurui Island off the western Shimane Peninsula. They include the area where Uppurui nori (Pyropia pseudolinearis) grows off Uppurui Island. Fumishima Island in the vicinity of Cape Hino-misaki is a natural monument that includes a black-tailed gull breeding ground. Uppurui nori grows near the coast of the town of Uppurui, and these waters are distinguished by their expansive Sargassum beds (Ministry of the Environment, 2001).
