These are the waters in the vicinity of Mishima Island in the city of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Due to the effects of the Tsushima Current, these waters have a higher average temperature than the waters inside the channel, and a variety of species of tropical fish and coral have been confirmed here. The waters in the vicinity of Mishima Island are highly productive and form a thriving fishing ground. Bluefin tuna also migrate through here. Turban shell, abalone and other species are abundant here too.
