These are the waters in the vicinity of Fukawa Bay, Senzaki Bay, and Omi Island in the cities of Nagato and Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The coast of Omi Island is home to a mixture of wakame, agar beds, eel grass, sargassum, Ecklonia kurome beds, and others, and the sea extending in front of the bay has a high degree of biodiversity (Ministry of the Environment, 2001).
