These are the waters of Kinko Bay from the town of Kiriire to Nukumi. The Kandelia obovata in Kiriire attract attention as mangroves at the far northern limit of their distribution, and they have been specially designated a species of natural monument of Japan. While small in area, this is an important habitat. Also living there are striped shore crab. Nukumi area is a southern limit annual eel grass (Ministry of the Environment, 2001).
