Note: While these waters were selected due to their high level for criteria 6, “biological diversity”, it should be noted that Hurlbert’s Index analysis may has an error when the number of sample are limited. It may result the highest value and has been over evaluated when the number of sample for use in ES 10 (Hurlbert Index [ES]) are exactly same as highest expected species number, which is 10.

These are the waters in the vicinity of Okino-erabu Island. Okinoerabujima Island is home to scattered green turtle and loggerhead turtle spawning grounds. It also is an important feeding ground for the green turtle (Mizuno, 2013b; Kamezaki, 2012; 2013).
