These are the waters in the vicinity of Cape Muroto. Along the coast from Sakihama to the vicinity of Cape Muroto unfold seaweed bed ecosystems, consisting of typical Ecklonia kurome beds (Ministry of the Environment, 2001). This is a highly productive area of expansive, easily harvestable habitat. For this reason, it is an important feeding ground for the green turtle (Kamezaki et al., 2013; Ishihara et al., 2011).
