Selected by experts due to endangered species are found.
These are the waters in the vicinity of the mouths of the Otagawa and Yahatagawa Rivers, both in the city of Hiroshima. These waters are inhabited by red spotted masu trout (Kato, 1998). The mouth of the Otagawa River is highly productive. For example, Asian clam are caught here. In addition, this also was a recorded habitat for the zoogeographically important Gymnogobius cylindricus (now extinct), which was distributed only in very limited places in the Seto Inland Sea and the Ariake Sea (Shigeta et al., 2003; Shigeta, 2008).
