These are the waters in the vicinity of the Shiaku Islands. The waters off Kojima Port in the city of Kurashiki on the coast on the Okayama Prefecture side are important as the Seto Inland Sea's largest eel grass beds (Ministry of the Environment, 2001). These waters include a number of small sandbanks, such as Sonosu between Hiroshima and Honjima, treasure troves of pen shell, razor clam, Japanese littleneck clam, and others (Kato, 2006).
