Characteristics A separate window opensReferences

These waters, centered chiefly on sandy shores, extend from Enoshima in Sagami Bay to Manazuru Cape. At the mouth of the Sagami River are found the only tidal mud flats in inner Sagami Bay, important settlement grounds for animals on tidal mud flats in the bay (Ministry of the Environment, 2001). Along the coast from Komekami to the rocky tip of the Manazuru Peninsula are waters where rare large elasmobranch fish such as megamouth shark, smalltooth sand tiger, frilled shark, goblin shark, bowmouth guitarfish, whale shark, and others appear with some frequency (Seno et al., 2012; Seno, 2013).
