These waters extend from the vicinity of the mouth of the Yurappu River in southern Volcano Bay to the vicinity of the Fujimi Coast. In these waters continuous strings of seaweed bed communities are distributed, with Arctic rainbow smelt, Japanese lampreys, and others living around the river mouth. It also is a spawning ground for flounder and home to an abundance of shellfish and many species of kombu kelp.
