These waters extend from the Kitamihorobetsu River in the Hokkaido town of Esashi to the Tokushibetsu River. Sandy shores in a highly natural state spread out in the vicinity of the Esashi coast, serving as breeding grounds for osprey and other birds. The coastal environment is home to expansive eel grass beds.
