These are the waters off the coast of Hokkaido's Sarufutsu Village and in the vicinity of Todo Island. The waters in the vicinity of Todo Island are an important site of Steller sea lion migration and landing. The landing of as many as 150 Steller sea lions has been recorded here (Hattori and Yamamura, 2007; 2008; 2009; 2010; 2011; 2012; 2013; 2014b), and this is also an important landing place for seals.
