Comments Made by the Central Environment Council on Biodiversity Policy in Japan, in View of "The 4th Review on Implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan"

On June 21, 2007, the chair of the Central Environment Council submitted comments to the Minister of the Environment regarding the biodiversity policy of the government in the future. The comments are based on the discussion on "The 4th Review on Implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan," which took place at the Central Environment Council Joint Committee on Nature Conservation and Wildlife. In the comments, the Council called for further improvement in the review methods and more efforts to raise public awareness of the importance of the policy. The Council also pointed out some issues for the next revision of the Strategy.
