The Bill Partially Amending the Law concerning Special Measures for Total Emission Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides and Particulate Matter from Automobiles in Specified Areas is expected to be adopted by the Cabinet on March 9, 2007, and submitted to the 166th session of the Diet. In order to enforce measures to restrict the amount of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter emitted by the automobiles in specified areas where air pollution is severe due to highly concentrated traffic, the bill mandates pollution measures, including regulations on vehicle users.
