Central Environment Council Opinion Regarding Comprehensive Policy on Motor Vehicle Emissions in the Future

On February 23, 2007, the chair of the Central Environment Council submitted an opinion to the Minister of the Environment regarding comprehensive policy on motor vehicle emissions in the future, which the Comprehensive Policy on Motor Vehicle Emissions Subcommittee had discussed since October 2005.
The subcommittee had compiled the draft report on this topic. The report was then deliberated upon by the Central Environment Council Atmospheric Environment Committee, and then finalized after taking into consideration the public opinions that the Ministry had invited.
Based on the opinion of the Central Environment Council, the Ministry of the Environment will submit a bill for partial amendment to the Law concerning Special Measures for Total Emission Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides and Particulate Matter from Automobiles in Specified Areas (Automobile NOx/PM Law) during the current Diet session.
