Numbers of Bears Captured and Cases of Injury to Humans (as of the end of December, 2006)

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has announced the compilation of the numbers of bears captured and cases of injury to humans in Japan as of the end of December 2006, that is based on reports submitted by local governments.
The MOE has collected reports to obtain data on the state of bear's habitats, in response to the frequent appearance of bears in residential areas.
Note: "Bears" referred to in the text include the Asiatic Black Bear and Brown Bear
