Publication of Wind Map (Tohoku Region) for Promotion of Wind Power Deployment

In order to promote the deployment of wind power generation in Tohoku region, which has large introduction potential, MOE developed a wind database analyzing annual average wind speed and its variability (standard deviation) of the past 20 years (1991-2010) in seven prefectures, i.e. Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Yamagata, Miyagi, Fukushima and Niigata, where the Tohoku Electric Power Company provides electricity, utilizing the numerical weather simulation technology, and consequently released the Wind Map (Tohoku region) that links the wind database with map information. The Wind Map can be found on the following website and can be used via Google Earth. Only available in Japanese.
