Result of the 3rd KLH-MOEJ Expert Meeting and Joint Seminar on Enlargement Functions of Environmental Management Center

The MOE of Japan (MOEJ) held the above-mentioned meeting and joint seminar with the Deputy VII, State Ministry of Environment (KLH) of the Republic of Indonesia on the 16th of June, 2011, in the suburb of Jakarta, Indonesia (venue: Environment Management Center (EMC), KLH).

At the end of the expert meeting, they agreed as below:
- "Packaged policy implementation" should be efficient to enhance environmental management capacity in factories.
- The policy package is composed of "dissemination of environmental technologies in factories", "legal system development", and "human resource development in local governments and factories".
- To construct good practice of "policy package" that can realize effective environmental management in factories, the field study will be conducted in palm oil mill factories located in North Sumatra Province.
- This field study will be handled by the working group that consist of the MOE of both countries, relevant Indonesian local governments, plant managers, and Japanese consultants of environmental management.

In the joint seminar, orientation for enlargement and functional enhancement of EMC from current central laboratory for monitoring and analysis to the institute for policy research and human resource development based on scientific data was discussed.
In considerations of the changes in circumstances surrounding EMC, appropriate measures will be discussed continuously in this KLH-MOEJ cooperative activity for enlargement and functional enhancement of EMC.
