2009 Biodiversity-Related Technology Development Promotional Project

The Ministry of the Environment will implement technology development measures based upon the results of public appeals for and selection of implementing agencies for the fields satisfying the following requirements connected to policy challenges regarding conservation and restoration of biodiversity and its sustainable use.

(1) Fields that can be applicable to biodiversity conservation approaches through the practical realization of developed technology.

(2) Fields that can be developed in a short period (approximately two to three years) by utilizing existing knowledge and technology.

(3) Fields with product development difficulties when driven by the private sector, due to a number of reasons such as low number of in demands for commercial availability, or the absence of private corporations with sufficient development capability.

(4) Fields contributing to measures promoted by local authorities through this project.
