MOE and The Nippon Foundation launch collaborative to eliminate marine plastic pollution

Minister Harada and Chairman Sasakawa of The Nippon Foundation announced the launch of a joint project to address the problem of "ocean debris" consisting primarily of drifting plastic waste. The project will include large-scale beach cleanup activities nationwide during UMIGOMI Zero WEEK, and UMIGOMI Zero International Symposium. (Umigomi: "umi" means ocean/sea, "gomi" means waste/trash in Japanese)
