The ecosystems of the Ogasawara Islands have been largely affected by the invasion of alien species associated with the movement of people from outside the Islands, such as Anolis carolinensis that preys on native insects and Bischofia javanica that suppresses native plants.
For environmental preservation, the relevant authorities and local residents work together to exterminate invasive species to protect the valuable native species.

In addition, as a measure to stop new invasive species from being brought in, shoe soles must be cleaned prior to entering the park.
Because some unexpected changes may appear as the measures are implemented, it requires scrupulous attention to the relation of diverse living creatures and the balance of ecosystems, so that they can correspond to the changes and promote the measures based on adaptable management.
