Renewal of the Memorandum of Cooperation on Environmental Matters between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of the Republic of Singapore
1. On September 24, 2026, SASAKAWA Hiroyoshi, Minister of the Environment of Japan and H.E. Ms. Grace FU, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment of the Republic of Singapore, signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation on Environmental Matters between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of the Republic of Singapore.”
2. This signing represents a renewal to the Memorandum of Cooperation, which was originally signed in 2017, following the addition of new areas of cooperation and other changes to the memorandum, to serve as the basis for future cooperation.
3. Going forward, based on this Memorandum of Cooperation, environmental cooperation between our two countries in areas of climate change, solid waste management, environmental remediation, and others will be further advanced.
In June 2017, the Ministry of the Environment of Japan signed and concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation on Environmental Matters with the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (currently the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment) of the Republic of Singapore.
To renew the Memorandum of Cooperation following the addition of new areas of cooperation and other changes, SASAKAWA Hiroyoshi, Minister of the Environment of Japan and H.E. Ms. Grace FU, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment of the Republic of Singapore, signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation on Environmental Matters between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of the Republic of Singapore” during her visit to Japan.
