Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation on Environment with the Republic of Vanuatu

1. On March 10, 2026, ISHIHARA Hirotaka, Minister of the Environment of Japan, and H.E. Mr. Ralph Regenvanu, Minister of Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology & Geo-Hazards, Energy, Environment and Disaster Management of the Republic of Vanuatu, signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Ministry of Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology & Geo-Hazards, Energy, Environment and Disaster Management of the Republic of Vanuatu on Environmental Cooperation”.
 
2. Both ministries will advance comprehensive environmental cooperation between the two countries in areas including climate change, waste management, and biodiversity.

■ Background

  Japan and Vanuatu mark the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year. To advance environmental cooperation between Japan and Vanuatu, ISHIHARA Hirotaka, Minister of the Environment of Japan, signed the “Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the Ministry of Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology & Geo-Hazards, Energy, Environment and Disaster Management of the Republic of Vanuatu on Environmental Cooperation”, with H.E. Mr. Ralph Regenvanu, Minister of Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology & Geo-Hazards, Energy, Environment and Disaster Management of the Republic of Vanuatu”, on the occasion of his visit to Japan.
  Both ministries will advance comprehensive environmental cooperation between the two countries in areas including climate change, waste management, and biodiversity.
