Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the Areas of Environmental Protection

 On November 14, 2024, on the occasion of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan, MATSUZAWA Yutaka, Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs, Ministry of the Environment (MOE), Japan and Mark Bowman, Vice President for Policy and Partnerships, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which has supported countries in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia, including Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between MOE and EBRD in the areas of environmental protection. 

 The two parties intend to develop bilateral cooperation in these areas.

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE), Japan, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which has supported countries in Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia, including Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between MOE and EBRD in the areas of environmental protection. 

The objective of this Memorandum was to reaffirm the intention of both sides to cooperate in the field of climate change and other areas of environmental protection. 

Each party appointed an officer as the contact point and confirmed that communication on further details of the cooperation will be addressed through it.
