Outcomes of the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia

１．The 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP17) was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, for 12 days from August 17 to 28, 2026. From Japan, officials from the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and other organizations participated as the Japanese delegation. 

２．A high-level segment was held from August 24 to 26, at which AOYAMA Shigeharu, State Minister of the Environment of Japan, delivered a statement.  

３．The Ministry of the Environment of Japan held a side event on August 24 to present the outcomes of its project to combat desertification in Mongolia.
