Result of First Joint Committee of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) between Japan and Tunisia
1. On June 20, 2023, the First Joint Committee of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) between the Republic of Tunisia and Japan was held in a hybrid format (in the Republic of Tunisia and online).
2. After the adoption of the Rules of Procedures for the Joint Committee, Co-Chairs were appointed. Then, the Joint Committee adopted the rules and guidelines for implementing the JCM consistent with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Furthermore, the Joint Committee exchanged views on the Japan’s support for the JCM partner countries.
3. Japan will promote JCM projects in the Republic of Tunisia based on the adopted rules, thereby reducing GHG emissions, notably through leading decarbonization technologies, and contributing to both countries' NDCs (nationally determined contributions).
